I'm back!

Hi guys! Sorry for disappearing on you. I’ve been moving to a new apartment (Yay!) and I lost my internet connection a bit earlier than I expected. But now I got it back and the move is nearly finished. The new apartment is 3 room 72.5m2 compared to our old 2 room measuring 57m2. This means that I get a RC-room!

It’s quite a mess at the time but I think it will be awesome once it’s done.

The weather here in Sweden has been terrible the past two weeks and I’ve only flown once since the last update. Oh when I say fly, I mean crash.

The horizontal stab came loose during launch... Now I need a new wing, fin and stab. I will definitely take the time to fix her up or get a new once because F3K is awesome.

Next update will be soon

New guide: GoPro Live output

liveEver wondered how to get live video from a GoPro Hero HD camera? I know lots of you do, because I’ve got a ton of e-mails asking about it. That’s why I decided to make a guide explaining in detail how to get your GoPro Hero HD camera into Live output mode. It doesn’t require any modification what so ever to the camera. It’s also safe, easy and fast to do.

Promotional video

The guys over in France have made a promotional video for Domaine du Planet using some of the material I shot during my stay.

I have not edit it, or have any part of making it (except shooting the aerial video). I’m glad that they could use some of the videos from the Tricopter.

I'm home again!

Wow what a trip! My feet have never been so tired as they were after two whole days of walking in Venice. But it was worth it. Venice is a beautiful town. The best thing that happened in Venice was that I got to take a helicopter flight above the town in the front seat of a Robinson R44.

After Venice we went to an island called Ustica. It’s a pretty small volcano island outside of Sicily. The snorkeling there was awesome. It was like swimming in an aquarium. I brought the GoPro camera with it’s waterproof case and made a short video for you guys:

Wonder were we’ll travel next time, any ideas?

I'm leaving for Italy

Tomorrow morning I’m leaving for Italy. This time though it’s nothing more than a vacation. No RC for one and a half week. First we will be visiting Venice for a couple of days and then were of to an island called Ustica, where we’ll be snorkeling and relaxing for the rest of the trip.

This means that the blog won’t be updated for about two whole weeks guys. Sorry. I hope you’ll manage without me. While I’m gone, fly a flight for me!

What to buy for your first Tricopter?

Many people have e-mailed me asking what electronics I recommend buying for their first Tricopter. So I decided to make a list of what I’ve tested and know work well. This list is intended for a tricopter weighing under 1.2kg fully loaded.
3 x 2213N 800Kv Brushless motors
3 x TURNIGY Plush 18amp Speed Controllers
4 x Hobby King 401B AVCS Digital Head Lock Gyro
1 x 6 pack GWS 10*4.7 propellers
1 x 10 pack prop adapters
1 x BMS-385DMAX Digital Servo (Metal Gear)

1 x 3S 2200mAh Turnigy LiPo
1 x Turnigy UBEC for making the “jump starter” for the gyros

Info on building a Tricopter can be found in the build log
I also made a guide on how to setup a Tricopter

Facts about my Tricopter using this gear:
Power: 10.2A@11.6V - 6370RPM - 780 grams thrust / motor!
Size: 40cm radius (center to motoraxel)
All up weight: 777 grams
Flight time: 15 minutes
Current draw during hover: ~8A
trihov
With the GoPro Hero HD and FPV gear mounted it weighs 989 grams and flies for around 12 minutes.

Hoped that helped someone out there

F3K build done!

It’s finished! The build was quite straight forward and it didn’t take that much time either. I have flown it but you’ll have to wait a bit for a flight report.
